Emalon... Oy Emalon...
4/16/09 4:59pm
We made a few attempts on Emalon last night in the new wing of the Vault. It was a 10-men MU raid and we had to quit after a few wipes as we were almost at the newly constituted 10-minute mark before a new WG battle.

Needless to say, we have not mastered this boss yet. This is another not tank-n-spank boss and we need the group to coordinate well to accomplish the goal. Here is a summary of what happened last night and the lessons learned:
At our first attempt, Banner went in first as our MT and I followed close behind as his healer. The four adds rushed me and I was dead even before I was all the way down the stairs. This was one of the fastest wipes I ever saw. :-)
We learned that the OT needs to go in first to engage the adds in this fight.
I don't remember how our second attempt went down...
In our third attempt, Mercykiller went first as the OT and successfully pulled the adds. Banner ran in and started moving Emalon towards the back as he is supposed to. And then he died because his healer (that would be me) forgot this time to move with him and was trying to get in range to heal when he should've already been there.
As we got to our fourth and final try we were almost within the 15 minute warning mark of the next WG battle. We began the encounter successfully and separated the adds and Emalon. Both tanks were doing well and were getting healed properly. All this continued until the first Nova Blast. As I did not have my Deadly Boss Mod updated yet to the new patch, I did not have it and didn't see the Nova Blast coming. Taking it right in the face, I had an irresistable urge to lie down and rest. With his healer gone, the MT took a dive and then the rest of... well, you know the story.
Like they say: 90% of the time, it's the tank and the healer that make or break the group. With such inept performance, a healer can cause at least two out of four wipes.
Hopefully I will improve.
take care, Bodur |
