How Long have you played World of Warcraft?
3+ years

Are you 18 or over

You will not be disqualified being under 18 but your application will be placed in a special consideration category should you be under 18 (Give us a general idea of age yes or no answer is not acceptable)

Yes I am over 18. 42 - Father of 4

How would you describe your style of play within the game

Casual, Raider, Quester, Organizor

I like to do all of it.

Give us an Idea of any Mods, Macros you use and how you control your movement in the game (Be descriptive - Example ~ DBM for tracking special abilities, MSBT for tracking procs and etc. Also Mouse Movement apposed to keyboard turning)
/castsequence reset=target/combat Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Heart Strike, Heart Strike, Obliterate,
/castsequence reset=target/combat Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Blood Strike, Blood Strike, Obliterate, Frost Strike, Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Obliterate, Obliterate
/castsequence reset=target/combat Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Pestilence, Blood Tap, Howling Blast, Frost Strike, Blood Strike, Blood Strike, Howling Blast

/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\GruulTheDragonkiller\\GRULLAIR_Gruul_Aggro01.wav")
/cast Death Grip
/cast Death and Decay

#showtooltip Frozen Will
/cast Icebound Fortitude
/cast lichborne
/cast Anti-Magic Shell

Control: Depends on the toon and what I am doing.
Main drive is left hand keyboard right hand mouse. Boss fights are normally very slow so I run like that. In PVP or quick paced combat the mouse drives movement allowing my left hand to use the numbers to quick attack.
I arrange the keyboard to perform task as needed and set macros up to run rotations.

Macros,

Give Us a look at your UI (Yes please take a screen shot of your UI in game and link it for us)

Give us an example of an ability rotation you might use in a boss fight....
Depends on what I am doing.
Tanking in frost the rotation focus on Frost Strike and Oblit. With some Howling Blast. I queue up Death Chill to boost FS and HB. Don't forget to throw a taunt in there. That is where Rune Strike comes in handy as well.

DPS I run Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Heart Strike, Heart Strike, Obliterate, and use DC to dump.

If you would like to be consider as a Raider for this Guild please List your availability and your preferred role

Please be flexible to support the raid group up to possible respec’ing if necessary

(Dayside) (Nightside) or (Casual)

Left Blank

Please list Guilds which you have previously been a member of
Sons of Light
Gravefillers
Hallows Angels - I was founder and co-GM in this guild. It is closing down as most of our players fraction changed, and as guilds do...it simply faded away.

Why do you want to join Marshmallow Underground? (Be descriptive)
I have several toons. I'm teaching myself to tank with a druid, pally, warrior, and DK. I have a rogues that is focused on PVP and a level 80 hunter. I've done the play alone thing, build a guild thing, and now I'm ready to just play. Sure I could join any guild, but why? I'm looking for interaction, goals, people who want to get together and go do something.

If you are applying to a specific group Please list it below (follow this link for a list of Groups in our forum Raid Hub - Make sure Forum is set to Classic Mode for best Navigation)
Shrug....not sure.

If you were a member of a previous Guild why did you leave?
Sons of light - Booted everyone under 40. I was in my low 30's at that time on my hunter.
Gravefillers - Wife and I decided to build our own guild. Many officer and members later joined our guild. It was not a split of anger, but one of desire to build the guild and run it.
Hallows Angels - Guild died. Sorry to say. We had 1/2 our people do a fraction change and form Hallows Devils. It's time to move on. I'm done with the GM thing. Might do the Officer roll or group leader, but rather serve right now.

What is your main reason for wanting to Raid?

A To experience the content with a group of friends.

B For the drops and Gear to advance my Character.

C To assist and be a part of a group helping to advance them thru end game content while being a part of a Team of Players.

All of the above in the order of C-A-B

Are you willing to take direction and be open minded about feedback during raids?
That depends. If it was offered with respect and with a desire to help me improve. Then yes. BUT, if it is set forth as an insult using insulting language. Then I would have to just ignore it. I don't get into trollin.

What is the name of the chat channel we want you to join in game?
never gave it any thought

Not sure if you have an enchanter among your other toons, but you do not appear to have any enchants (including head, shoulder, and leg) on your tanking gear. You are gemmed appropriately and well over the defense cap, which is huge for DK tanks, but you are leaving a lot of stamina and armor on the table without enchants.

There are also a few sub-optimal pieces of gear (shield block value, dps pieces - ring 2, trinket 2, sigil) that you should look to replace whenever possible.

I'm also a little confused by your tanking build, which passes up a lot of mitigation in favor of minor gains in the unholy tree. You have no points in Anticipation, Frigid Deathplate, or Blade Barrier, which are all pretty standard talents for tanking. Ravenous Dead, Vicious Strikes, and Blood-Caked Blade all increase damage and threat, but (to me, at least) are not worth the trade off in survivability that the mitigation talents provide.

If you can, I would recommend talking to Amörla, Dirthvader, Savagekit, Laultaa, Moonwarden, or Sailentdeath in game about DK tanking - or checking out some of the builds on WoW Heroes to see what dual wielding DK tanks are using for their builds. Amörla uses a dual wielding frost build for tanking - not sure if any other DK tank in the guild does the same.

Yeah. I’m working on that right now. My changer is only 300 so he has little of value for this toon. I’m working on a quest chain right now to get the rep for Greater Inscription of the Axe and Greater Inscription of the Gladiator for my shoulders. I’m using Wow-heroes to get enchant ideas. One by one I’m working my way down the line up for both tanking and DPS.

My primary has been DPS, but I do have fun stepping up as a tank. I just tanked The Arachnid Quarter with Fiends in Low Places. I was able to keep the focus of the boss and the adds with little trouble. However, as gear goes, this toon does need some work. That’s part of the reason I sought your guild out. Nope, I don’t want any hand holding. I expect to have to earn my keep. I’m just looking to find a place to hang my hat and begin the hard work ahead of me.

Great! Thanks for the heads up. I figure about half the gear needs to be replaced.

A while back I ran into another Frost Tank. This build was very close to their design. His theory was to draw extra DPS to hold aggro. ??? Well it did seem to work, so I figured I would give it a try. My DPS went up a bit, but not a lot. The biggest thing I noticed was my healer, who is also my wife, had to work harder than normal to keep me healed. Not a good trade off if you ask me. I’ve been reviewing some different builds at deathknightbuilds.com and wowpopular.com to come up with a good build. I think I have one that might work well, but I may need to apply some hammer and polish to a few pieces.

You are my new best friend!  Thanks. I’d so love to talk to someone that is a proven tank.

The guild I was in put out a call for someone in the guild to start tanking for Dungeon Finder. I was the only one that stepped forward. To be honest I had never even considered tanking. But, I took up the cause with the desire to be the Tank Master of the guild. I’m working on a Pally, Warrior, and a Druid tank. Of course they are all different levels. I’m thinking that I might just put aside the druid tank as I have more fun taking the toon into BG’s and being the Big Black Kitty of Death!

Thanks for the feedback. I’m going to respect the Frost side tonight, so feel free to check it out.
BTW, any thoughts on the Blood side? I might have to log in blood/DPS gear before you can see it. That’s cool. I can do that tonight.
I love your name, it goes well with a male Dranei. I just finished watching Farscape earlier this year, great SciFi show. Anyways it seems like your improving your stuff and look forward to seeing you in game!
Reading this on my phone so I have not checked out build or gear. Based on the rotation, I'm not even sure what your spec is. You said you do heart strikes which is a deep blood ability, yet you also do obliterate which is a frost centered ability. Also you do rune power dumps with death coil when frost strike which is what the frost tree is centered around, would be the better/ best option. I will look into your build/ gear closer. The rotation question is there for you to provide your general knowledge of the abilities and how you work thru them to maximize your threat/dps ect. You will definitely need to research the rotation better as your threat would be very low if you were to tank anything other than normal mode dungeons with any decently geared dps. In my opinion you should read www.elitistjerks.com (suno's fireside chat--dk endgame tanking) to get a better understanding of your class, enchant your gear and gems and resubmit application, as far as the sons of hodir I'm pretty sure you can buy those enchants with any of your other toons that have earned the rep with that faction. Also another good website for dk tanking is www.pwnwear.com. Try these sites out that I have suggested, reply to my note, id be interested to see what you have learned about dk tanking.

***Edit--

I agree with silent, the gear is a mish-mash of non-DK tank gear (block value items) DPS trinkets ect. As a "new" tank your hit is dangerously low no Bladed armor and DW w/o Nerves of Cold Steel? Hang in there and get some tank gear for yourself via heroic runs. Do some research from the sites I mentioned, obviouly the BiS gear is a bit out of your league right now but you can do some serious upgrading on your gear and build, I'd like to help you more but you should research some stuff on your own that I have mentioned. I hope you get some good information and enjoy your findings.

First, thank you all for the time you have taken to review my toon, and for the feedback as well. .

I have been taking in frost spec with frost presences. I use a combination of command, rune strike, Howling Blast, Howling Blast + Death Chill, and death grip to keep the mobs in line. I rotate the mob around so that their back is to the party. This way if any mobs are pulled off me I can use command or death grip to bring the mob back. If neither are ready, then I do a quick spam of Icy Touch to attempt to get the mobs attention.

My gear reflects my previous focus which was DPS. When I decided to build a tank to help in the guild, I used DPS to generate funds to purchase the tanking gear. I know I am a long way off from a full set, but I have plans on using non-heroic instances to generate fund for the rest of the thanking gear.

Currently I am performing as main tank in Naxxramas 10 and I am able to keep the focus of the bosses. I approach each run very carefully. Throughout the week I read and watch videos related to the bosses. I prefer video like those provided by Tankspot. I find this information very important and useful to get the rest of the team to perform. To date this has been very helpful. When we do wipe, it normally is a called wipe and I am the last to go.

My chain was designed from an article called Stop mashing buttons. When I reviewed the sites you mentioned I found the only difference was the Oblit. To be honest I like the dmg if offers, but I’m not too hip on it removing the disease.

One of the biggest weaknesses I have found with tanking is my inability to manage larger mobs. I seem to be topped out at three. At four, I start losing control and beyond that I have to work to keep control of all the mobs.

During my engagement I cycle through each of the mob using whatever resources is ready – rune strike, Howling Blast (+Death Chill), or Command. I save Death Grip for those that run toward my party. It may sound like a lot, but to be honest it’s really nothing unless I am working on over four mobs.
Well I will pipe in here as a blast from the past.....

Not sure what weight my opinion has but I can say this .....

I like this app from several standpoints....

But first in my opinion your UI is a cluster fuck....

But what ever not that big of a deal...

But this applicant is responding and keeping app active (more so then a lot of present members visit this site (which if you ask me is very sad...)

I like his willingness to listen to instruction and I would say get him in your recruitment channel and throw him into the fire... He may struggle .... May flat out fail... but he will learn a lot and I have a feeling he could be a real gem if someone put the work into him

By the way Indy you noob .... I scanned nord last night and MU again (do your f'ing job lol) you guys are 5th in both 10 and 25 mans on the server....

Nice job guys

For multiple mobs, mark your initial target so dps doesn't get stupid, drop death and decay, get diseases up, spread diseases to all mobs, (the pestilence will trigger a death rune) then hit blood strike to trigger a second death rune. Hit obliterate to procc rime or killing machine then howling blasts. Then tab to new target. I like to pop blood tap and blood boil after diseases are up for a little extra oomph on a pull. priority on multi mobs needs to be howling blast! It's so good for holding aggro and if used when killing machine proccs it will hit harder than obliterate and it will hit everything close to you.
Frost tanks have fantastic aoe. And are so much fun when farming heroics. As far as obliterate and diseases there is an ability in the frost tree that will prevent that.
I agree with Banner, this app has done some homework let's get him in.
Going to peak at spec again so thus post may get edited later.

Love that this applicant is responding to feedback. I don't have anything else to add that hasn't already been said by others. I will say: I'm going to reject this app, because you're not ready for progression raiding, but I strongly encourage you to gear up some, take the advice of Dirthvader and company, and reapply later. I'll say that your strongest chance of being accepted is to be a frost-dps DK with the 20% haste buff.

Good luck, Kadargo. Thanks for applying and being very cool about feedback, etc.
